RE: Committee to Reinstate Maradona
FIFA, the gangster cartel that dominates the world’s greatest sport, is raging out of control.
Diego Maradona; a living legend, the coach of Argentina’s national team and the greatest footballer I have seen, has been effectively banned from the game under most unfair and oppressive circumstances, as a reprimand for speaking rudely to reporters at an October 14 press conference in Montevideo.
Maradona’s behavior was unprofessional and disgusting, but the punishment is out of all proportion with the problem.

CAMBRIDGE — 12:48 am EST.
OK - the audience, maybe 800+, is a little bit yeah-yeah and everyone is wearing desert cammo.
Their faces reflect the diversity of the U.S. military, and Colbert’s joined up and had himself a suit made in the same pattern.
Colbert’s jokes are so good-natured and apolitical I’m sure even some Iraqis appreciate them. McCain, Obama cameos draw kudos too.
Bam really comes off ordering the four-star general to shave Colbert’s head!

A Reuters report on the Boston Globe’s collective bargaining negotiations seems to forget about Boston’s other daily newspaper, the Herald, with its circulation of 185, 000 daily readers.

At approximately 6:30 pm this evening my home phone rang, displaying “Out Of State,” on the caller ID.
Following the customary mating dance of the telephone solicitor -
(RESPONDENT) “Hello?”
(long pause, then CALLER, desperately) “HELLO??”
(RESPONDENT, sighing) “Hello…”
- a woman speaking at great speed indicated she sought responses for a “political opinion poll.”
